Recently refurbished, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island revealed its stunning new look in February 2022 after a multi-million update. With refreshed interiors, it’s ready to open its arms to luxury travelers looking to visit an iconic Maldives establishment.

Location

Marking its 25 years of establishment in 2022, the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is the first international island resort that set up shop in the Maldives.

It’s known for outstanding barefoot luxury including setting up several firsts, like Ithaa (the first underwater restaurant), The Muraka, (the first underwater bedroom), and of course, the first two-island resort setup.

Located in South Ari Atoll, Conrad Maldives Rangali Island offers guests a remote luxury island experience on two connecting islands. One is the Rangali-Finolhu Island, and the other is Rangali Island. A 500-meter walkway connects both islands so guests can easily move from one area to another.

Reaching the main resort requires a 30-minute seaplane flight from Malé International Airport (MLE). Only guests arriving between 6 a.m., and 3:30 p.m. can avail of this—as long as they provide details of their arrival details to the resort at least 48 hours prior.

Another choice is to take a short domestic flight from the international airport to a nearby island (Maamigili Airport- VAM) and a quick speedboat transfer. For those who don’t mind leisure travel, you can avail of the 3-hour luxury yacht transfer. The yacht can seat up to 15 guests.

All airport transfer options have an additional fee per passenger.

Room

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island has 150 luxury villas and suites with beach, water, or spa locations.

In the central Rangali-Finolhu Island, the standard Beach Villas are surrounded by lush greenery that can be enjoyed through the outdoor shower and its glass-walled living areas.

Meanwhile, the Deluxe Beach Villas offer grandiose space. At 3,229 square feet, guests are pampered with expansive lounge areas, a striking private garden, a living area, outdoor and indoor showers, a stocked minibar, a glorious bathroom, and more!

In addition, all stays come with a separate bathtub, a flatscreen TV, adjustable thermostat, coffee and tea maker, an in-room safe, a hairdryer, and phones. A work desk with an adjustable light is also available.

Guests receive complimentary welcome amenities, a pillow menu, Wi-Fi, bottled water, and a weekday newspaper. There’s 24-hour housekeeping and evening room service too. All beds have plush duvet covers with a night light and alarm clock on the nightstand.

The Three-Bedroom Beach Suite is ideal for families or groups of friends. It has spacious living and dining areas and a kitchenette. Outside, there are two infinity pools with direct access to the beach.

Located at the Spa Retreat, the Retreat Water Villas boasts a spa treatment room and Jacuzzi. The standard Deluxe Water Villa includes a private sundeck, Jacuzzi, and plunge pool.

The upgraded villas, such as the Superior Water Villa and Premier Water Villa, have additional Jacuzzis in the bathroom, an infinity pool (select villas only), and a sun deck. Upgrades in the Sunset Water Villa include a circular rotating bed and a glass-floored living room.

The two-bedroom residence, The Muraka is the most luxurious (and expensive) stay in the resort. Inside, there are two spacious bedrooms on the upper floor, a bathroom with an ocean-facing tub, a spiral suitcase, and an outdoor deck with an infinity pool.

It is most famous for its floor-to-ceiling master bedroom located 16 feet below the Indian Ocean. The experience of staying here is truly unique as guests are treated to a private bedroom with unobstructed lagoon views.

The room features a 180-degree acrylic dome, a walk-in closet, and a tunnel viewing theatre. The services of a chef, a fitness trainer, and a personal butler are included as well.

Amenities

Conrad Maldives Rangali Island is a perfect paradise for those looking for relaxation and adventure in a secluded island setting.

It’s also a popular jumping-off point for scuba diving beginners and experts alike. With its abundant coral and marine life, Conrad Maldives is one of the best places to snorkel and dive. Get ready for an extraordinarily brilliant underwater adventure. Other motorized and non-motorized water activities include paddling, fishing, snorkeling, and sailing.

Guests can also go whale shark and dolphin watching, island hopping, and manta watching at night, among others. Eco-friendly activities include the turtle conservation and coral planting project. The resort houses two spas—the world-renowned Spa Retreat and ultra-luxe Over-Water Spa.

The Spa Retreat is set on stilts with nine treatment rooms over a lagoon. Over half of the rooms are private pavilions with a sauna, steam room, and a soaking tub or Jacuzzi. Tailored holistic wellness and spa treatments, such as Ayurvedic, full-body massages, and facials, are offered here. Salon and waxing services are here as well.

Take advantage of amenities such as the Vichy shower, relaxation lounge, whirlpools, and a beauty salon.

At the Over-Water Spa, the treatment rooms have glass floors so you can soak in the stunning ocean views while getting your treatment done.

This multi-awarded spa was refurbished to further up the ante for luxurious rejuvenation. Three (out of four) thatched-roof treatment rooms have glass floors that open up to the crystal-clear blue waters and coral reefs. Also expect two indoor and outdoor relaxation lounges, changing rooms, and showers.

There are only 17 rituals here, each meticulously designed to give you the ultimate pampering experience. Their signature treatments are chakra-based, designed for balance and to provide optimal health and spiritual growth.

After your spa ritual, head to the serenity deck and unwind in the whirlpool with the mesmerizing ocean views. The spa also partnered with organic Japanese beauty brand Isun for top-notch skin care treatments backed up by science.

Although known for promoting a laidback lifestyle, the resort has everything you need to stay active during your stay. Aside from a two-story gym and a jogging trail, there are private and group classes for yoga, boot camp, aerobics, and more. There are also designated areas for sports such as tennis, beach volleyball, and table tennis.

Keep the little ones aged 3-12 entertained at the Maaja Kids Club. This recreation center offers indoor/outdoor activities, ranging from arts and crafts to guided snorkeling lessons.

Sink your toes in the cool white sand or go for a refreshing swim in the crystal clear waters at the beach. This idyllic location makes it a hidden paradise away from the crowds. It’s also a jumping-off point for several water adventures, such as diving, kayaking, sailing, and kite surfing.

At Conrad Maldives, there are two infinity pools—the adults-only Quiet Zone Pool at Rangali Island and the family-friendly one at Rangali-Finolhu Island. There is also a kid’s pool at the main pool. It is also close to Rangali Bar, where you can order lunch or dinner with your cocktails. Regular live entertainment is held there as well.

The Quiet Zone Pool comes with a beautiful lagoon backdrop and daybeds – order light fare and drinks at the al-fresco tented lounge nearby.
