The property opened in late 2019, and it has welcomed discerning luxury travelers since then. Those looking for a blend of contemporary architecture mixed seamlessly with opulent Mexican hospitality and endless amenities will find themselves in paradise at this property.

How to Book Four Seasons Los Cabos

Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas is part of the Four Seasons brand, which is world-famous for offering posh luxury to deep-pocketed travelers. Our affiliation with Four Seasons Preferred Partner, their proprietary VIP recognition program, allows us to offer our points consulting clients these exclusive amenities:

  • A room upgrade, subject to availability
  • Daily breakfast in Estiatorio Milos or In-Room Dining
  • $100 to $200 hotel credit (based on room category booked)
  • Complimentary round-trip airport transfers from SJD/MMSD airport (valued at $515)
  • Welcome note at check-in acknowledging you and your travel agency and the benefits that are being extended

With all Four Seasons Preferred Partner bookings, the rates are identical to the best rate you can find directly on the hotel’s website, meaning you’ll never pay more for these benefits.

Rates at this property generally start at $1,000 per night during the low season and can go as high as $2,500 per night during peak dates (festive, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day holidays).

Booking through Four Seasons Preferred Partner is better than through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts, due to the following benefits:

  • Daily breakfast can be done as room service in addition to the restaurant
  • Upgrade requests through Four Seasons Preferred Partner are prioritized more than through Fine Hotels & Resorts (this was confirmed firsthand when speaking with hotel management)
  • Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits can be stacked with any rate on the hotel’s website, while Fine Hotels & Resorts does not always have the best rate.

Location

Most of Cabo’s resorts are in the Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo corridor. Not the Four Seasons Los Cabos. It’s located in the East Cape area, directly on the Sea of Cortez. The property is around a 1-hour drive from Los Cabos International Airport (SJD/MMSD).

The Four Seasons is the maiden property in the greater Costa Palmas development area. One of the many components of this multibillion dollar project is a marina capable of accommodating superyachts (indeed, we saw a 165-foot superyacht during our stay). Additionally, Costa Palmas is home to Amanvari, numerous residences, villas, and condominiums.

Arrival Pavilion and Check-In

Upon arrival at Four Seasons Los Cabos Costa Palmas, we were greeted with an open-air arrival pavilion. The architecture here is otherworldly.

The arrival pavilion featured beautiful garden and sea views.

One of the features we loved about the Four Seasons Los Cabos was its relatively flat terrain. This made exploring, strolling, and getting around much easier, especially with a toddler.

Oceanfront Room

One of the many aspects of the rooms here that we loved was the immense size of even the standard rooms — even the entry-level rooms measure 680 square feet. Essentially, these are junior suites at the entry-level.

The rooms and suites were arranged essentially in buildings that each have 4 to 6 units spread out across 2 or 3 stories. We were assigned an Oceanfront room in the 2500 building on the second (top) floor. We couldn’t have been happier with the room type we got — it had the most premium view of any rooms available.

We were particularly impressed by the design of the rooms. We felt the rooms made perfect use of the space with contemporary furnishings while maintaining a strong sense of place.

IMG_3437

The first feature we noticed was the Four Seasons signature bed, appointed with incredibly plush pillows.

Then, the room continued with a living area that contained a pull-out sofa, a table with 2 chairs, and numerous baby amenities like a high-chair, a kids teepee tent, and a variety of welcome amenities for our special stay.

Our building was located directly on the beachfront, and our unit was the right-hand side unit on the second story.

IMG_3573

The unit below us was the Oceanfront Room with Plunge Pool. In our opinion, this room had an inferior view given its location on the ground level. However, having a private plunge pool might be an important factor for some.

IMG_3574

Rooms vs. Small Suites vs. Large Suites vs. Residences vs. Villas

If you browse the hotel’s website, you’d encounter a variety of different options for accommodations. In terms of views… here are the categories from entry-level to most premium:

  • Garden View – these are ground-floor units with private plunge pools
  • Ocean View (generally it’s a distant ocean view)
  • Prime Ocean View (3rd floor units) – some buildings have a 3rd floor, which results in a higher vantage point, but these rooms are not directly on the oceanfront
  • Oceanfront (directly on the beach)
  • Oceanfront with Plunge Pool (directly on the beach with a private plunge pool) – we would argue that the best views actually are the Oceanfront rooms without a plunge pool

Note that this is not necessarily in order from cheapest to most expensive — for example, garden view rooms with plunge pool have inferior views to ocean view rooms but are more expensive due to the private plunge pool.

Additionally, there is a selection of larger suites, residences, and villas available for rent.

Nugget of Advice:

If you are considering booking a premium multi-bedroom residence or villa, you can reach out to Stephen directly at [email protected] to book the best possible accommodation suited to your preferences and needs.

Fitness Center

The fitness center is housed in a 2-story complex containing both an indoor and outdoor area. There are plenty of free weights available, as well as strength training equipment, flatscreen TVs, a separate yoga and spin room, plus 2 Pilates Reformers. Two of the standout features were the heavy bag and body opponent bag (in the yoga and spin room).

Spa

Although I did not book any spa treatments on the property, we received a comprehensive tour of the facilities. The spa consists of:

  • Gender-separated lockers and showers
  • Luxurious waiting areas with top-quality furnishings and refreshments
  • 8 private treatment rooms
  • 2 private couples suites (with private plunge pools and salon)
  • Hydrotherapy pools
  • Dry sauna
  • Steam room
  • 2 cold plunge pools
  • Salon and studio

Beach

Four Seasons Los Cabos at Costa Palmas has the best beach of any hotel in the entire peninsula. Full stop. It is a magnificent, 2-mile stretch of white sand beach directly on the Sea of Cortez with some of the calmest waters possible, making it an unprecedented leader amongst its competitors.

There is full service offered ranging from food, drink, lounge chairs, watersports, beach games, and much more.

This is one of the few beaches that is truly swimmable, and it has some incredible depth too.

Pools

In general, the property has 4 different sets of swimming pools:

  • Family pool(s) – these include the main lagoon-style pool, which is the single largest pool in the property, as well as the scattered family pool “arroyos”, which are essentially smaller pools dotted around the main pool. There were a few different zero entry points, making it a great choice for families with little children.
  • Adults-only pool – these include the large adults-only pool as well as the 2 enormous hot tubs on either side of the adults-only pool.
  • Ocean pool – this was a “hidden secret” pool at the beachfront with a few cabanas and sunloungers.
  • Fitness center lap pool –  this 3-lane pool is located on the ground floor directly behind the fitness center.

Plenty of cabanas were situated at the pools, and they were all first-come, first-serve. For context, we were at the property during the busy President’s Day holiday and never saw more than half of the cabanas occupied.

Kids For All Seasons (Kids Club)

Although we didn’t get a chance to photograph the Kids Club (also known as Kids For All Seasons), we were very pleased with the amenities offered. Although the indoor section of the kids club is relatively small, there was an outdoor splash zone, as well as unique activities on offer every day ranging from beach walks to arts and crafts.

Tennis Courts

The hotel’s sports courts were located behind the fitness center, and there were 2 hard courts (lighted), along with complimentary rackets, balls, and refreshments.

I booked two 1-hour tennis sessions with Tommy, a German tennis pro, for MXN 4,517 per session (~$220 USD), and they were perfect.

Basketball Court

There was also a full-length basketball court, which was also used as a pickleball court.

The golf course at the property is an 18-hole, par-72 Robert Trent Jones-designed facility with full service including rentals, lessons, and more.

Shopping Boutiques

El Mercadito

Located in the center of the property is El Mercadito, an outdoor shopping area with a few boutiques, Ginger’s Cafe (the all-day grab-and-go spot where you can get coffee, pastries, churros, and crepes), as well as a residential real estate sales office.

  • Mozza Baja – A signature restaurant serving Italian cuisine by Nancy Silverton
  • Chiki – a cocktail lounge open Thursdays to Sundays with a live DJ on Saturday evenings
  • Delphine – a South of France-inspired beach club (closed for winter from January to April)

If you include the options in the marina village, you can also add:

Estiatorio Milos

Known for their buzzy outposts in New York, Las Vegas, and Miami, Estiatorio Milos is considered to be the signature restaurant at the property. It has gorgeous, expansive views of the beach and ocean. Open from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for breakfast and from 5:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. for dinner, we frequented this spot daily for breakfast.

  • Pork pastor tacos
  • Chocolate clams
  • Oysters
  • Ribeye and shrimp molcajete for two

Our dinner here was truly decadent, but the true highlight for us was the fresh seafood. We had never tried chocolate clams prior to coming here, despite having been to Cabo many times, but we were hooked from that point on.

Mozza Baja

We dined at Mozza Baja, the signature Italian restaurant at the marina village by Nancy Silverton one night. Unfortunately, we felt the food was mediocre overall. We had the highest expectations for this restaurant. And while the actual ambiance and restaurant itself was beautiful, the food did not live up to our expectations.

El Puesto

El Puesto is the property’s raw bar, and it’s located at the adults-only pool (also known as the East Cape pool). Notably, it has regular sushi nights that was reservations only and opening days are based on hotel occupancy.

Although we did not have a chance to sample the food here, we went ahead and snapped some pictures anyway.

Ginger’s

One of the dining outlets we really enjoyed was Ginger’s, and it’s the grab-and-go cafe on the property. In addition to craft espresso, morning pastries, and ice cream, it also had a fresh churro and crepe cart in the afternoons.

There are also fun games like table tennis, billiards, air hockey, and an arcade machine.

Zest

Delphine

Delphine is located on the opposite side of the marina village. We did not have a chance to visit the facility, as we discovered it is closed for the winter season from January to April. The pictures look unreal, though.

In-Room Dining

Service

Although we were not assigned a personal butler, we felt that the service here was excellent. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be working at the property, and there were so many instances were the team went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. I’ll highlight a few below:

  • Our room was decorated with art on the mirror for our son, as well as a birthday display and balloons for my wife
  • Our room was filled with sweets like chocolates, cakes, and other treats
  • Our room was appointed with baby amenities like a diaper genie, a kids teepee tent, a custom embroidered bathrobe for our son to keep, swim diapers, baby slippers, and so much more
  • Everyone at the resort seemed to know us by name even if we had never interacted with them before

We were truly blessed to experience the famed service at the Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas.

Wrapping Up

The Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos at Costa Palmas is the most complete resort in all of Cabo. To start, the rooms are gorgeously appointed, spacious, and functional. The facilities are truly impressive, and they include tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball, a gigantic gym, watersports, a spa complex, and so much more. Dining is truly a highlight, as well.

But it’s the setting of the hotel that makes this a true slice of paradise — 2 miles of calm, swimmable beach along with a seclusion like no other hotel in Cabo can offer make this place a property that I’ll be visiting consistently for the foreseeable future.

In particular, as someone who enjoys evening strolls and long walks, this property is in a league of its own in terms of its relatively flat footprint and expansive acreage.

There truly is something for everybody here, and it’s a must-visit property, even if the drive from the airport is slightly longer. This property has truly upped the ante for high-end luxury travelers visiting Cabo.
