Ventana Big Sur is the first Alila property in the United States. In 2020, the resort transitioned into an all-inclusive adults-only resort, which means all meals are part of the booking except for the alcoholic drinks.
To get to Ventana Big Sur, guests get a scenic drive around the Pacific Coast Highway, popularly called Highway 1.

Right outside of Shanghai, Alila Wuzhen is the third Alila property in the country. This historic town of Wuzhen is often called the “Venice of the East” as it’s situated in the middle of three large cities – Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou.
Each room is spread out around small buildings in the hotel. Canal bridges connect these areas making you feel as if you were exploring a small town.

12. Alila Kothaifaru Maldives

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives is the latest Alila property to be added to their portfolio of hotels. Although it was supposed to open in 2020, the opening date was pushed back into late 2021.
While there’s limited information about the hotel at the moment, there’s already a website for the property and what looks to be an image of Raa Atoll where the hotel is located. The atoll is a great spot for divers too since Hanifaru Bay is found here, a declared UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
The resort is going to have 80 beachfront villas and 36 of these are set to be overwater villas. What’s more, the property will be less than an hour away from the capital of Malé.
Once this resort opens, it will signal the return of Alila to the Maldives. Back in 2009, the company still had Alila Maldives Hadahaa operating. This was later bought by Hyatt and transformed into Park Hyatt Maldives, one of the best beach hotels you can book using points.
By 2018, Two Roads Hospitality (the company managing Alila properties) was taken under Hyatt’s wing. And now, with the Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, Alila should be returning to these gorgeous islands pretty soon.
