Food and Beverage
Almost equivalent to a first class flight, the Delta One business class cabin provides an extensive meal service in the air. It starts with giving guests a chance to pre-book meals via the Delta App. They can choose from a handful of starters, mains, desserts, and drinks at least 30 days and up to 24 hours before departure. If special meals are required, they can also put in a request to the airline.
Once onboard, Delta provides two meal services on most medium to long-haul flights. Pre-flight drinks go first and during this time the crew hands out confirmation of pre-booked meals or deliver a menu for guests to peruse.
Shortly after, the tray table is draped in white cloth and meal trays are brought out with the chosen selections. All meals come in beautiful Alessi tableware.
Drinks are poured right there instead of offsite – another elegant touch to the service. Indulge in premium champagne, vodka, or wines. Meanwhile, the second meal is served at least 90 minutes before landing. This “breakfast” service often consists of a light meal composed of bread, omelet, or fruit.

British Airways Business Class
Ground Services
Flying on British Airways from London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR) has unique advantages. For one, Club World guests receive priority check-in counters including a fast-track security entrance.
As Club World flyers, guests are entitled to 2 free checked baggage with a maximum weight of 51 lbs. or 23 kg. each. On the aircraft, guests can bring one standard carry-on and a single personal bag as long as it doesn’t exceed 23 kg. or 51 lbs. The larger cabin bag is subject to space availability.
Before boarding, business class guests can head to the British Airways Galleries Club Lounges at Heathrow Airport. These are located in both the North and South wings of Terminal 5. Club World guests can access up to 3 of the lounges and usually, you’ll find terminal monitors indicating the occupancy level inside the lounges so you can head for the less crowded ones.
The lounge on the B gate is quieter and can accommodate guests flying out of the B and C gates. There’s usually a shuttle train from the main gate in A to the B gate, but you can get there on foot in around 10 to 15 minutes.
Inside the lounge, there’s a host of seating including ones equipped with power outlets in case you need to get work done. A hot and cold buffet is now back on display. During the pandemic, BA opted to have QR code menus on offer. There’s a self-serve bar for drinks, coffee, Twinnings tea, and Union Coffee. Certain BA lounges have shower rooms as well as business centers.
Aside from its London hub, British Airways also has branded lounges in key airports and cities like New York’s JFK, Washington’s Dulles, and Johannesburg. There are also branded lounges in Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
If there’s no British Airways lounge, Club World passengers can use partner lounges, usually Oneworld lounges.
Seat
It was British Airways that first introduced the concept of lie-flat beds in business class. Starting in 2019, they’ve continued with the tradition by transforming their Club World seats into Club Suites with the addition of tall sliding doors.
Arranged in a reverse herringbone style in a 1-2-1 setting, guests receive direct aisle access. Couples or families can opt for the center seats which have adjustable privacy dividers in between. Club Suites were first introduced aboard the A350s and then the 787s, eventually, it’s been placed into the 777s and the whole of BA’s long-haul fleet.
Club Suites use the Collins Aerospace Super Diamond seat. There are customizations including striking charcoal gray upholstery with stitched detailing. Storage is plentiful with a small cabinet, a large armrest if by the window or two cubbies on the center seats.
Touchscreen controls are on the armrest, giving guests control over the seat position and reading light. There’s also an IFE screen and a pull-out tray for dining and working.
It’s worth noting the privacy doors on the Club Suites are locked during takeoff and landing so you can only use them during the flight itself.
Amenities
Club World passengers bound for North America or the Middle East receive amenity kits from The White Company. Housed in sleek, black leather pouches, the kit contains essentials like a dental kit, eye shade, socks, ear plugs, pen, lotion, hand cream, and even pulse point oil.
The White Company also supplies comfy pillows and blankets. On routes heading to certain Asian countries, guests also get comfortable slippers to use. Headphones are also provided to be used with the IFE.
Food and Beverage
Soon after boarding, attendants come around to serve pre-flight drinks often in a choice of champagne, orange juice, or water. Menus are given so you can place your order for the meal service, which starts about 90 minutes after departure.
The first course begins with a salad and appetizer. There’s a small bread basket too. Guests can choose from three main options and a handful of desserts including a cheese and fruit plate or sweets.
Breakfast is served 90 minutes before landing. It involves a hearty English breakfast or a more minimal continental breakfast. Those who only want coffee or tea with pastry can simply inform the attendants.
In the middle of the flight, guests can ask for sandwiches, sweets, or drinks. There’s even an option for ice cream.
For drinks, BA offers an extensive list of wines and spirits. There are even mocktails to try. Union Coffee is a staple along with Twinnings tea.
Entertainment
Club World seats come with either a 12-inch or 18-inch high-definition touchscreen monitor. On long-haul flights, the type of entertainment on offer can make or break a flight. However, in BA’s case, it’s a delight.
From Hollywood blockbusters like Jurassic Park to Thor, down to classics like James Bond, there are plenty of options. They also have a great selection of TV shows, music, documentaries, children’s movies, and foreign films.
The screens are fixed though and non-adjustable. On the side is a handy remote control along with noise-canceling headphones, which work great.
Wi-Fi
Although BA’s first class guests get free Wi-Fi, Club World passengers would need to pay to use the plane’s Internet. Luckily, the prices are reasonable, starting at $6 or 4.99 pounds for an hour’s worth of access.
For something a little more, you can opt for the four-hour plan at $14.50 or 11.99 pounds or splurge by connecting a full flight for only $18 or 14.99 pounds.
Lavatories
Depending on the aircraft, you get either one or two lavatories in the business cabin. On the 777, there are 2 lavatories – one in the front and the other at the back of the cabin. The 787 has a single lavatory while the A380 has 2 lavatories at the front. These are kept clean and contain The White Company products.
Bed
Sleep in comfort inside the Club Suites. These seats lie flat, providing 79 inches of space from top to bottom. It can easily accommodate someone up to 6 feet and 6 inches tall.
Beddings from The White Company create the comfort you need to sleep. This includes a fluffy pillow and a semi-thick blanket. There’s no mattress topper provided though.
Staff and Guest Services
British Airways has consistently been praised for its service. Their attendants are friendly and upbeat while attending to the guests’ every need. They are professional and can make casual or formal conversations where needed.
On overseas flights, BA posts attendants who can speak in the native language of the destination country to make it easier to accommodate passengers. This is a thoughtful consideration on the airlines’ part and highly appreciated.
